Temple

History of our Temple

The Hindu Temple (Owned and operated by STCC of SC) was established on Vijayadashami day, October 17, 2010.  A group of motivated people of Indian diaspora put in a sustained effort to establish a permanent place of worship for the Lowcountry Hindu community.
A large building was purchased at a central location to serve as Hindu Temple.
Hinduism is the third largest religion in the world followed by 1.25 billion people.  The temple serves as a place of worship and practices of Sanatana Dharma.
The two words “Sanatana Dharma” come from Sanskrit language.  The word “Sanatana” means eternal.  In other words, it is “Anadi” (has no beginning) and “Anantha” (has no end).  “Dharma” refers to the righteousness consistent with the laws of nature.  Thus, the term Sanatana Dharma is translated as “natural, ancient, and eternal way.” It always existed and will always be there like God, Soul, Truth and Moksha.

Hindu Temple is open to worship by all people regardless of their color, caste, or social status.
