Rilesh Mohan, President

Proudly Serving as the EC President at the Hindu Temple of Charleston. Rilesh Mohan arrived in Charleston in 1977. He bought a business and moved to Barnwell, SC. In 2016, he found an excellent opportunity to take ownership of Days Inn in Goose Creek with his wife Dipa Patel and two sons Dhruv and Purav and moved back to his home town. From 1997 to this day, he has always been attached to Gujarati Samaj and the Charleston Community. Rilesh  also served as the SC regional ambassador for four years in AAHOA (Asian American Hotel Owners Association).He was also the Board of Director for LPS of USA representing South Carolina. Rilesh Mohan is a proud lifetime member of the Hindu Temple of Charleston and many other organizations.

Deepak Nihalani, PhD, Vice President

Dr. Deepak Nihalani received most of his primary, secondary and higher education in Delhi, India. After completing his PhD from Chandigarh, India, he came to the United States in 1997 and joined the University of Michigan where he worked in the field of kidney diseases. After becoming junior faculty, he moved to Indianapolis, where he joined the University of Indiana and established his independent academic career and started working on understanding the causes of renal diseases.
Later he moved to the University of Pennsylvania, where he further expanded his work in this field. In 2015, he moved to the wonderful city of Charleston along with his family, where he joined MUSC as an Associate Professor. Soon, due to his academic accomplishments, he was awarded the Endowed SmartState Chair, which is a prestigious position offered by the State of South Carolina. Among his other major achievements, he received many awards including the presidential medal from the Vice President of India, served on the editorial board of various scientific societies, published several scientific articles and has authored many international patents. As an educator, he was involved in the research training of Renal fellows in the Division of Nephrology at the MUSC. In addition to his academic laboratory his team worked on therapeutics and diagnostics focusing on treating various kidney diseases, which led to the formation of his biotechnology company “InDepth Pharmaceuticals” whose primary focus was to develop diagnostic assays and therapies to treat various kidney diseases. After his 5 years of tenure in MUSC, he recently joined the prestigious National Institutes of Health in Washington DC, where he will be working as a Program Director. At this position, he will be altruistically involved in establishing policies for the future development of science in the field of kidney diseases.
In addition to his academic achievements, since Dr. Nihalani came to Charleston, he has been actively involved in the Indian community, where he has been an active member of the Indian Association of the Greater Charleston and the Hindu Temple. He and his family have volunteered countless times to serve the Indian Community through these organizations.

Akshay Patel, EC Secretary

I am originally from Surat, Gujarat, India. Lived in California, Texas and now in Charleston, South Carolina. I am  a MBA graduate and have an experience in both working for companies and self employment, managing and developing hotels. I am currently building a hotel in Summerville and managing hotels.

Amaladevi Reddy

I  Came to Charleston in May of 1988 from Hyderabad.
I have been a volunteer at our temple in West Ashley since it’s inception. For the past five years, I have been serving the temple as an Executive Committee Member.

Ashok Prabhu

Ashok Prabhu moved to Charleston in 2004 from Udupi, a temple town of Karnataka, India. He has been an active volunteer of the Hindu Temple since 2012 and is serving as an Executive Committee member since 2017.
Being a technology enthusiast he supports the technology needs of the temple like maintaining its domain, website, Mailchimp, YouTube Live, and Office 365 (etc.).
He lives in Summerville with his wife Yogitha Prabhu and their two sons. He is a Co-Founder and the Chief Solutions Architect of Trikaiser LLC.

Reshma Patel

My name is Reshma Patel . A little about me, I have been living in the Charleston area for the past 20 years. I have had multiple hotel properties in Charleston and a few other cities. I have been retired for the past few years and have been involved in the Temple activities since its first inception in Ladson. I am an active member of Gujrati Samaj. Ever since the Temple moved to its current location, I have been a member of BOT, the decorating team and currently I am in the Executive Committee. I am here to help in whatever capacity is needed.
